I saw this thing online – and honestly, I can’t even remember where, maybe it was my aunt’s Facebook page, God help us all – about “eco-friendly” bag dupes. And it got me thinking. Why *not* rock a Fendi-ish bag that doesn’t, like, totally destroy my bank account *and* isn’t actively contributing to the planet’s imminent demise? Like, win-win, right?
Plus, let’s be real, Fendi’s been around, like, forever. Almost a century! They’re not exactly hurting. I’m sure they’ll survive if a few of us plebs opt for, ahem, *alternatives.*
Now, about finding a decent Fendi First Bag dupe on Amazon… Ugh, that’s where it gets tricky. Amazon’s like, a black hole of questionable quality. You gotta wade through a sea of “genuine leather” bags that are probably made of recycled plastic bottles (or maybe just straight-up plastic), and reviews that are either suspiciously glowing or screaming about unraveling seams after one use.
Seriously, I spent like, two hours last night looking. I think I found one that *might* be okay. It has this sort of slouchy vibe, kinda like the Fendi First, but it’s called something totally ridiculous like “Lady Elegant Shoulder Bag” or some nonsense. It was, like, $35 bucks, so I figured, whatever, I’ll risk it. I’ll probably update this later when it gets here. It looks okay in the pictures, not that I can be sure of what it will look like in person.
Okay, so this “eco-friendly” angle… I’m a little skeptical. I mean, *everything* is “eco-friendly” these days, right? Greenwashing is a thing. But I guess if I’m buying a bag made of, say, recycled materials from a small business on Etsy, instead of, you know, a sweatshop-produced “luxury” item, then I’m at least *trying* to be a better human. And hey, maybe it will come with some kind of certificate or something.
Anyway, the point is, you can totally get the Fendi *look* without emptying your savings. Just be prepared to do some serious digging, read a *ton* of reviews (and take them with a grain of salt), and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a decent dupe that doesn’t fall apart after a week. Just don’t expect it to be *exactly* the same. It’s a dupe, not a miracle. Also, you might want to be careful about the “designer” logo.
Maybe I’ll just stick with my old backpack. It’s very reliable and it doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t.
