I saw this headline today, “15 Chanel Dupes: Luxury Looks for a Fraction of the —-” (Seriously, what’s the rest of the headline?? Drives me nuts when things are cut off like that!) It got me thinking about how, like, *everything* has a dupe now. You can get a handbag that looks almost identical to a Chanel for, I dunno, maybe a tenth of the price? And honestly, unless you’re, like, carrying it into a Chanel store, nobody’s gonna know the difference. And even then, who cares?!
Then I saw *another* headline, “The Costco Bogg Bag Dupe Is Sold Out, but These Alternatives —-” OMG, Bogg Bags! Are they even still cool? I remember when *everyone* was trying to get their hands on those things. And yeah, I get it. They’re, like, super practical. The article even said, “These are the best Bogg Bag dupes out there. $10 Buy Now at Etsy Since these trendy bags have a ton of structure to them, there are so many uses. I use my larger one for the beach, pool, and park .” So practical and cheap?!
See, that’s the beauty of dupes! You get the look, the functionality, whatever… without emptying your bank account. Like, I totally get the appeal of a designer bag, I really do. But I also like, wanna be able to afford groceries, you know?
And honestly, sometimes the dupes are even *better* than the real deal. I had this…okay, it was *totally* a knock-off…Tory Burch tote. Used it for years! Way more durable than some of my *actual* designer stuff. Maybe it’s the pressure to make it last longer when you know you didn’t pay a fortune. Who knows?
