So, I’ve been doing some, uh, *research* (read: internet stalking) and it’s kinda insane how much buzz there is around these things. Like, have you *seen* the prices? We’re talking down payment on a house kinda money for a little piece of leather. But hey, who am I to judge? I’m sure they hold their value, probably better than my questionable stock picks, anyway.
Farfetch is apparently the place to go if you’re on the hunt for a mini Kelly. Which, tbh, I don’t really *get* the whole mini bag thing. Where do you even put your stuff? Phone, keys, wallet… maybe a lipstick? I’m more of a “throw everything and the kitchen sink” kinda gal myself. But hey, they’re cute, I guess. Status symbol cute.
Then there’s the whole “pre-owned” market. And honestly, that’s where I’d probably start if I ever decided to, you know, sell my soul for a Birkin. Found a mention of vintage Birkins and secondhand Kelly bags. TLC (whatever that is) seems to have a crapton of pre-owned ones. “3968+” apparently. That’s… a lot. You could probably get lost in there. I’d be afraid of accidentally buying a fake. The counterfeiting game is STRONG with these guys.
Speaking of, have you ever heard of a Hermes Sac Karimi MM Tote Bag? Sounds kinda…clunky, right? Grey felt and calf leather? Felt? For an Hermes? I’m a little suspicious. I mean, I’m no expert, but still.
The big draw seems to be the exclusivity. Like, “Oh, you can’t just *walk* into a store and buy one.” You gotta have a relationship with the sales associate, spend a ton of money on other crap, and then *maybe* they’ll deign to offer you one. It’s all a bit…much, isn’t it? But hey, that’s part of the appeal, I guess. Makes it all the more covetable.
